The Writer: Me

Hi!  I’m Rachel!  I’m thrilled you decided to step into Halaran!  ❤

Who am I?

If you want the labels, I’m the firstborn of 8, a homeschool graduate (in college now), a history-lover, a reader, a writer, a lover of beauty, and a follower of Jesus Christ.

If you want to know what I do?

I love making things and making things beautiful – whether that’s sewing, gardening, drawing, painting, playing with graphics, or arranging flowers.  I like being outside in the colors and the air and the alive-ness.  I like laughing, people-watching, and doing any or all of the above with my family.

Also, I’m in the middle finishing this thing called college (through this awesome online-hybrid called Unbound — you can totally ask me about it!).  It’s good, hard work, but it takes up a lot of my time.  I babysit/housekeep part-time, too.  So if my life were a pie chart, all that lovely stuff I just mentioned in the above paragraph gets a rather small slice.

But what do I care about?

My biggest passions stem from the purpose and redemption that Christ is in my life.  I love words, visuals, and seeing how ideas change everything else.

This blog is my attempt combine those.  My desire is to let the redemption – the beauty and hope – of Christ that He has poured into me flow through my heart to my hands and out my fingertips.  And my life right now is a journey to figuring out how that works.  ❤

Although, I’ll let you in on a bit of history and say that Halaran’s beginnings were much smaller.  — Originally, I started the blog as part of an online Creative Writing class where I posted my homework (including a novella!).  Since then, Halaran has become a world where I can practice word craftsmanship, share the stories and themes I’m thinking about, and be held accountable by the friends (you!) exploring it with me.

So welcome to Halaran!  I hope you discover an adventure….
